The swinglet MET is a recoverable and autonomous radiosonde that enables 3D atmospheric sampling within a radius of up to 3 km from the launching location.

Humidity, temperature and wind

Theswinglet MET is fitted with an air channel leading to a professional humidity and temperature sensor, which is the same sensor used by Meteoswiss on their passive balloon-based radiosondes. In addition, the swinglet MET can estimate the wind speed and direction thanks to its onboard GPS and a smart algorithm.

Optional long range

Optionally, the swinglet MET can be equipped with a long-range radio module (868 or 900 MHz) and a long-range battery (up to 1 hour flight endurance). This enables atmospheric sampling radius of up to 10 km from the launching location.

Smart and lightweight

The swinglet MET has the same aiframe and most characteristics of the swinglet CAM: less than half a kilogram, electric propulsion, 30-minute flight time, autonomous takeoff, navigation and landing, and easy flight planning. All necessary components are including in a small transport box. The high-resolution still-image camera of the swinglet CAM is replaced by the atmospheric sensors and air channels of the swinglet MET.

Important note: The use of the swinglet MET must conform to the applicable laws of the country where it is operated. It is the sole responsibility of the client be informed of applicable restrictions. For example, some countries may have rules that restrict the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to: line‐of‐sight operation only, specific airspace & maximum altitude, and/or prior approval by the authorities in charge (e.g. FAA).
