The swinglet STIX is a fully autonomous mini-drone fitted with a programmable computer offering the power of a modern smartphone.

Built-in Linux computer

The gumstix Overo is an ARM7-based computer board. It is connected to the on-board senseFly autopilot and powered from the main battery. Beside being able to program and monitor the swinglet STIX with the e-mo-tion software from the ground, you can program the Linux computer with your own algorithm to tell the autopilot where to go and at which altitude. A Linux library providing an API to the swinglet STIX is included in the package.

Optional onboard modules

If you wish, the swinglet STIX can also be equipped with a video-camera, a WiFi module, and/or a GSM module, which are directly interfaced to the onboard Linux computer and easily accessible to your own algorithms.

Lightweight and easy to operate

The swinglet STIX has the same aiframe and most characteristics of the swinglet CAM: less than half a kilogram, electric propulsion, 30-minute flight time, autonomous takeoff, navigation and landing, and easy flight planning. All necessary components are including in a small transport box. The high-resolution still-image camera of the swinglet CAM is replaced by the Linux-capable computer modules of the of the swinglet STIX.

Important note: The use of the swinglet STIX must conform to the applicable laws of the country where it is operated. It is the sole responsibility of the client be informed of applicable restrictions. For example, some countries may have rules that restrict the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to: line‐of‐sight operation only, specific airspace & maximum altitude, and/or prior approval by the authorities in charge (e.g. FAA).
