Intergeo Conference 2019: senseFly Recap

Out of the 700 exhibitors and 18,000 attendees at the 25th international Intergeo conference, senseFly joined with a team of 12 from six different countries.

The conference took place in Stuttgart, Germany, from September 17 to 19 for 21 hours of expo and exhibition time. With a tightly packed schedule of flight demos, 1-on-1 sessions and expert-led discussions, senseFly made its mark on the conference’s quarter-century milestone.

Day One

Before the door’s opened Tuesday morning, senseFly announced its partnership with Trimble Agriculture. The partnership gives Trimble’s agriculture professionals direct access to senseFly’s end-to-end drone solutions and technology.

At 9 a.m., attendees entered Stuttgart’s convention center to enjoy Intergeo 2019. senseFly’s team spoke with people from all over the world who visited its booth to learn more about mapping drone technology.

Later, senseFly’s Global Training Manager, Andrea Blindenbacher, ran flight demos with the eBee X to demonstrate the drone’s capability. With 5 m/s winds and slightly cloudy skies, the fixed-wing drone performed well.

After the live flight demo, the day’s Meet the Expert sessions began. This included:

  • Xiaohui “Leo” Wang from Harxon: Application & Development of High Precision GNSS Antennas in the UAV industry
  • Stephan Kohlmetz from ALLNAV: Processing Data from senseFly’s eBee X with Trimble
  • Jorge Victor Miranda Oliván from Tecnitop: Power Line Corridor Surveys with eBee X
  • Florian Muehlschlegel from Pix4D: Pix4D Workflow — Mapping Clifftop Hazards and Coastal Erosion
  • Kirill Vasin from GPSCom: Practical Use of senseFly Drones in Russia

Things began to wind down after the sessions ended, but the team had a big evening planned. Distributors from around the world joined senseFly for cocktails and dinner.

Day One at Intergeo was a smashing success.

Day Two

With news of senseFly’s most recent partnership still buzzing, Day Two garnered a similar-sized crowd to Day One. senseFly’s team met with attendees for 1-on-1 sessions to discuss drone technology, products, software and training.

While most of the team kept busy at the booth, Andrea and the eBee X successfully completed a final flight demo. Conditions on Day Two were better, with clear skies and milder winds of 3.5 m/s. Still, the eBee X was the only non-multirotor/fixed-wing UAV to fly at Intergeo 2019.

Later, attendees gathered around the senseFly booth for another day of Meet the Experts sessions. These included some familiar and some new faces:

  • Helen Gilmartin from KOREC Group: Five Reasons to Fly a Fixed-Wing Drone
  • Andrea Blindenbacher from senseFly: Mission Planning Made Easy with eMotion (Live Demo)
  • Stephan Kohlmetz from ALLNAV: Processing Data from senseFly’s eBee X with Trimble
  • Jorge Victor Miranda Oliván from Tecnitop: Power Line Corridor Surveys with eBee X
  • Dimitrios Kalamakis from Pix4D: Use Case of Highway Mapping in Greece (Live Demo)

As another day of Intergeo came to a close, the senseFly team prepared themselves for the final day of the world’s largest GIS conference.

Day Three

9 a.m.: Doors opened, and the final day of Intergeo 2019 began. Though the crowd wasn’t as large as it had been the previous days, the booth was bustling with more 1-on-1 session and attendees fascinated by the eBee.

The smaller audience proved beneficial for the final round of Meet the Experts sessions, and gave the speakers a chance to have more one-on-one conversations with the audience. These speakers included:

  • Dimitrios Kalamakis from Pix4D: Use Case of Highway Mapping in Greece (Live Demo)
  • Jorge Victor Miranda Oliván from Tecnitop: Power Line Corridor Surveys with eBee X
  • Jane Liu from senseFly: senseFly Drones and Cameras
  • Andrea Blindenbacher from senseFly: Mission Planning Made Easy with eMotion (Live Demo)
